Week three - Keswick

Week three of the school holidays and we've left home!

After rummaging in the garage for most of Saturday and Sunday for our camping stuff, we headed to Keswick of Monday.

With both my sisters and there families, we made up a party of twelve

The campsite was just a short walk away from Thirlmere Reservoir.

Not a lot I can say about the photo above, they did a small dance routine, then we continued on our walk.

If you visit the Lake District you have to love a good walk.

We did plenty, around the town, around the gardens and down to the lake.

But on our last day we took a boat trip across the lake.

We luckily got some seats inside as the rain clouds opened.

Then a walk up the lakeside, under the trees, trying to stay dry.

The only way to motivate a group of twelve is with the promise of cake.

Luckily for us the Lingholm Kitchen was on our route to the ferry.

The beautiful walled veg gardens.

We managed to find enough seating and all had a well deserved piece of cake

We made our way to the ferry but after two full boats came and went, we realised we had a problem.

Twelve doesn't fit easily onto the ferry and no one was getting off at this stop.

We had to walk back to the Catbells ferry stop, with our fingers crossed we would fit on the ferry.

Much to my sons delight we sat at the front of the ferry and got lake water in our faces all the way back.

So not so much 'Mum Guilt' this week.

But lots of washing and packing away when we got home.
