Horizontal rain. . . .

School holidays are not complete without a trip to the beach. When we set off the sun was shining, there was even talk (between the children) about paddling in the sea!!

When we got out of the car the rain had just started, but on we went!!

The tide was moving in and leaving 'treasure' on the beach.

I think the above is a sea anemone shell and below is a sea sponge (I think!!)

The picture below is of a rotting fish which I promised to photograph. I think its a 'boy thing' as it was said to be the best thing about the day.

Lots of egg cases although I prefer the name 'mermaids purse'.

The star fish was as big as a dinner plate.

The photo below really doesn't show the rain, which by this point was almost horizontal.

And yes we did have a little bit of sand in the car!

Back at the car, everyone was soaked but we had a great time.
(and I did bring back a shell, well what are pockets for?)

  2. I love wet days at the beach. You usually have them to yourself and can find all sorts of things and your trip was filled with great stuff! The anemone shell looks like a baseball :)

  3. Great finds! The sea sponge looks like the egg casing of some creature or other.

    1. I really need a pocket guide, although it was far too wet to take it to the beach that day. Sarah
