All that walking in March was exhausting and I looked forward to a rest in April.
Then I managed to get a second part time job!
After the first morning in the new job, I dashed home to let Penny out and grab some lunch.
The phone rang and all changed. My beautiful nieces, 7 month old twins, had been rushed to hospital by ambulance.
Little M was very poorly, she was intubated and transferred to Manchester Children's hospital.
Little L was closely monitored in our local hospital.
As the week progressed they where both diagnosed with meningitis, with twin M developing sepsis.
Her little fingers slowly changing colour as the sepsis took hold.
My niece was a happy little girl on the saturday, a bit grizzly on sunday, a bit of a temperature on the monday and very, very ill on tuesday.
One of the sympton that sticks in my mind was her temperature on tuesday morning, her body was burning up but her arms and legs where cool.
She had a 'rash', but it disappeared when doing the glass test.
Thankfully both my nieces where very lucky. Twin L came home later the same week.
Twin M, the little fighter, came back to our local hospital after a week, then back home a few days later.
Our family have been very lucky. All parts of the NHS where brilliant, both girls received excellent care.
Please read about sepsis
