May and June

The last few weeks have flown by.

I've done lots of walking with Penny.

As a family we've stayed close to home.

The homeschooling is now the normal.

I've enjoyed lots of tea in the sunshine.

Penny is in desperate need of a hair cut.

When she is dry, I don't mind her long hair, but we've had some rainy day walks and she's just like a sponge.

She looks pretty miserable in her photo but she loves a walk no matter what the weather.

My Fabric Taxidermy Instagram account turned one.

And my Daughter turned 18 !

We had a very lucky afternoon with the weather and had lots of family visit.

We are still eating the cake....

Just a little catch up!

So, if you follow me on Instagram you'll have seen all my photos, but here's a little catch up.

July has been busy.  We have three birthdays in our house in July and that's a lot of cake! 

My Son decided (at the last minute) that he'd like to make his Sister a Emoji cake.

Then in return my Daughter made him a burger cake, with lettuce and melted cheese (he hates melted cheese and won't even try lettuce)

Then my Daughter headed off to her friends for the day and they made me a 'The Greatest Showman' cake (its a circus tent with four layers of cake)

The school holidays started and I suddenly had loads of work to do.

I've finished designing a tea blending machine and now I'm trying to finish the guarding whilst trying to keep my Son off the technology.

We had our first trip of the summer to the beach.

Poor Penny loves the open space of the beach but she really doesn't like getting wet. Don't try and tempt her, she won't go in the sea.

Then in a bizarre weather change, I took Penny for a walk and the light rain turned to hailstones, not giant ones but plenty to get us both wet.

So its the second week of the holidays.

Whats on the agenda this week?

Bunting nearly ready.

This week I've rummaged through my fabric stash in search of 'bunting' fabric.

Bunting fabric is not my most precious fabrics and not ones in short supply.

Bunting fabric includes - my daughters old school shirts, my sons PE shirt, my daughters zig zag skirt, some T shirts and even some cot sheets !!!!

I wanted approximately 20m of bunting but my maths skills let me down, I cut way too many triangles. So I made 29m of bunting!!!

All laid out on the kitchen floor ready for sewing.

Then just sew, sew,sew.

Summer Holiday - Snap of the Day

Its finally the school holidays and boy are we ready!!

Over the summer holidays I'm going to try and blog more often.

This is a snap from Saturday, the first official day of the holidays and also a Nerf battle between a crowd of 10/11 years old boys.

My Sons Birthday Party!!

Only a week ago . . . . .

Over Christmas my Brother announced that he and his partner had set a date, they had booked to get married on Easter Saturday!!!

They had lots of plans, which included using our Dads car as 'The Wedding Car'

This time last week, my Niece, my Sisters, my Mum and myself became 'Wedding Florists'

Luckily we only had the car to decorate!!! 

The Bride looked  beautiful and her bouquet was perfect.

After the church we all followed the wedding car, high up onto the fell to the reception! 

The weather was glorious, blue sky and uninterrupted views of the Ribble Valley

 Lots of lovely food, great company, lots of laughter, dancing and speeches!!!

We had an amazing time.

My Brother had organised an Irish Kaylee band!!

(Once I've had a glass of wine my ability to tell left from right is reduced even further, so following instructions . . . . . well it wasn't easy)

The sun shone late into the evening. . . . 

 

The wine flowed. . . . . 

And the dancing continued late into the night!!

Sadly my little Penny had to stay at home. . . . . I'm sure she would have been well behaved.

Meltdown Month

July always sends me on my way to some sort of meltdown.

The end of the school year -

3 primary school plays

1 high school summer show

1 awards ceromony

1 sports day and a backup day

1 child on a three day trip to London

1 sponsored walk

1 sposored 'human water pipeline'

1 summer fair

3 family birthdays

I've also had a job/work interview, which was ok and they will send some work my way.

(being self employed means work is always famine or feast)

I'm in my second month of being dairy free, so all Birthday baking has been. . . . . different!!!

And today, after I finish making another Birthday cake I have a funeral to go to.

A very lovely Lady who always took time to chat when I had my children and I walked endlessly passed her house. Sometimes you really are lucky with your neighbours and even after we moved it was always lovely to go round for a chat.

So after a long week, I have a Birthday party for 10 years old on sunday. . . . ooh lovely and relaxing!!

We're still at school/work on monday & tuesday, then I'll do a mad /frantic pack on tuesday night to go camping on wednesday.

Ooh I think I need another cup of tea and maybe a chat with Agnes (above in photo) shes such a good listener.

This 'meltdown feeling' is nothing new, when I look back at my blog it just seems to be a normal July.  See here & here

Pink, pink, pink

My sewing machine has been dusted off this week.

I initially thought I'd make a drawstring bag for my Nieces birthday.

Then as the project progressed the bag got more & more complicated.

All my sewing is done on the dining room table and we had visitors calling, so it all needed to be finished and tidied away!!!!

I will admit, when I looked under the table after they left I could see scraps of fabric

(they are still there) 

So all finished and delivered to the party girl today.

Maybe with the right fabric I too could be the owner of a Bespoke Backpack!!
