September into October

Well its been a while since I did any Blogging, but I've been busy.

Lots of sewing has gone on!

The animals above have been packed up ..... 

and taken to Lancaster.

They are now part of the Wintertide exhibition at Arteria in Lancaster.

I'm so excited to be part of something so special.

In other (not so exciting) news, Me and Penny have attempted to do more walking.

I'm thinking we need some all weather gear because we've had some pretty wet walks so far.

My lovely little garden still has a bit of colour.

And finally, after 9 1/2 years of pink curtains in our living room (previous owners curtains)

I've made some new ones!! 

The window is extra wide, so I've 'adjusted' two pairs of curtains to make one pair of BIG curtains.

Over the last few weeks I've . . . . . 

Looked after my Mum and Dads chickens whilst they went on holiday

 and I've tried to do a daily walk.

I've been asked to make a Beaver.

I've started and finished some Christmas decorations.

I visited the Harrogate Quilt show and bought a lovely book.

I made the Badger but he's still naked.

I made some mini animal heads, the lion being the favourite.

We visited the beach with Penny and she went in the sea, to above her knees, for the first time.

And lastly, I've spent some time in the garden, just sitting with a cup of tea.

Woodwork with Penny

In my proper job I use 3D Cad, I draw mechanical handling equipment and although I find it interesting most people zone out if I chat about it.

One big bonus is that I have the software at home, ready for my own small projects. 

On Thursday I thought 'Wouldn't it be nice to have a bee hive in my garden, but without huge amount of bees and the white suits'

So fast forward to Thursday lunch time and I'm at the wood yard ordering my wood!

 

On Sunday morning, fuelled with tea and assisted by Penny the dog, we made a start on my beehive.

The rest of the family went to the cinema.

Penny was my only assistant BUT she doesn't like me sawing wood or using the drill or hammering nails, she sit in the house and watches through the door.

She does like off cuts of wood, which she carries onto the the grass to chew!!!

So the finished bee hive. 

It has a hinged lid and now contains my trowel and kneeling pad.

Doesn't she look proud of her achievement.

Also Penny doesn't make cups of tea, she doesn't put away tools or sweep up and in case of an emergency (if I cut my finger off with the saw) she cannot phone for help BUT she looks pretty . . . . .

Summer Holiday - Snap of the Day

Earlier in the Holidays we did a bit of Mum/Son DIY.

We made a planter for an ugly/shady area in our garden. The ferns went in on wednesday, all we need now is some barkchip mulch to finish it off.

Last week, as my Son painted the shed I began the epic task of painting the fence.

Sunday afternoon I finished the fence around the back of the house.

Eighteen fence panels, all painted BLACK!!

I love it, it really shows off the plants. Just got the panels round the front to do . . . . 

(I realise black isn't to everyone's taste, but I love it)

Tuesdays challenge - keep the boy off technology during the day whilst staying home.

Maybe a bit of woodwork will do the trick.

The power tools always help, he's keen to use the drill but sawing semi wet wood is a job for Mum (so I'm told)

We did finish our new garden planter it just needs filling up. So a successful day.

Jobs, jobs, jobs......

I hate staying inside doing household jobs when the sun starts to shine.

So on Monday afternoon I dragged persuaded the children and Penny to join me on a trip to the local garden nursery.

Just a few purchases as there's not much in stock at the moment, they are waiting for autumn bulbs.

And NO the children where not allowed to put Penny in the trolley, even though they went on and on about pushing her around!!

On Monday I spent the morning in and out of the garden. Not really looking, just putting out washing and taking it in. Filling all the washing line space I had !!

Luckily in the afternoon we went out visiting family, spending time drinking tea and chatting away, whilst the sun shone. 

Meltdown Month

July always sends me on my way to some sort of meltdown.

The end of the school year -

3 primary school plays

1 high school summer show

1 awards ceromony

1 sports day and a backup day

1 child on a three day trip to London

1 sponsored walk

1 sposored 'human water pipeline'

1 summer fair

3 family birthdays

I've also had a job/work interview, which was ok and they will send some work my way.

(being self employed means work is always famine or feast)

I'm in my second month of being dairy free, so all Birthday baking has been. . . . . different!!!

And today, after I finish making another Birthday cake I have a funeral to go to.

A very lovely Lady who always took time to chat when I had my children and I walked endlessly passed her house. Sometimes you really are lucky with your neighbours and even after we moved it was always lovely to go round for a chat.

So after a long week, I have a Birthday party for 10 years old on sunday. . . . ooh lovely and relaxing!!

We're still at school/work on monday & tuesday, then I'll do a mad /frantic pack on tuesday night to go camping on wednesday.

Ooh I think I need another cup of tea and maybe a chat with Agnes (above in photo) shes such a good listener.

This 'meltdown feeling' is nothing new, when I look back at my blog it just seems to be a normal July.  See here & here

A Snapshot of May

I've dusted off the laptop this morning to recap on some work I did way back in January.

Its not much fun trawling through drawings and hastily scribbled notes, trying to work out whats still to do.

Sooo I had a bit of a look on the internet . . . . . avoiding any work as I go.

Then I got the camera out to see whats new!

No grand days out, just a snapshot of our little garden in May

Big mean bugs.

Well what a week its been. 

The bugs flying round this house are big and mean.

It all started on Mothers Day when my other half started with a cold.

After one day at work he was bedridden on Tuesday!!

On Wednesday my son fell over at his friends, taking some skin off his hand but he seemed OK.

Thursday I started with the worst cold I've ever had and spent most of the day in bed.

 

Our parenting skills where put to the test, getting the children fed and out to school when you can hardly get out of bed is really hard. Add into that my son needed his hand bandaging !!

So by Saturday, fuelled by Lemsip we had to take him to Primary Care.

Now hes on medication for his hand but hes started with a cold, when will the sickness end . . . . 

On a lighter note, I'm feeling a lot better. definatly able to cope with a snotty boy.

Today the weather has been glorious and after being stuck inside for days (it feels like weeks), I played out all morning. The green house is now lovely and tidy and ready for seed planting!!

Lunch break.

Today after my lunch I popped outside to do a few rows on my socks.

I'm now heading towards the toe . . . . .

What a beautiful start to October.

I could really love October if it stayed like this!!!

Anyway back to work !!
